We’ve always taken our food seriously and it was the most pleasant surprise that there are other people out there who feel the same way. Who feel passionately that food should be affordable, grown in our bountiful country and tasty!
We started this journey as a tiny (and simple) fruit & veg co-op. It was my partner & I, my Aunty, his Mum & a few amazing friends who were first on board. 9 boxes in total that first trial week. Our aim was to save money while I studied to become a personal trainer & Scott built up his personal training business.
That first week there wasn’t quite enough in the budget to get everything we wanted but I sure learnt how physically hard it was going to be hauling fruit & veg up a hill to my car, with just a piano mover to help me.
So we advertised and grew, and became a business. We gathered some ace people into a small team. We developed standards and food safety practices but somehow manages to keep that common sense that makes our seasonal boxes a practical solution to the modern problem presented by supermarkets.
Our simplest aim is to put food on your table, to help you enjoy healthy, creative and flavourful food.
Our broadest aims are to put money directly into the hands of farmers and producers, to make sustainable choices about what food to eat, where it comes from and encourage a breadth of variety to be farmed by purchasing unusual varieties and most of all to establish a community around food, where we talk about what to cook not what to avoid, what tastes great and is good for us not the latest fad diet and we cook together as families and communities.
